Author Guidelines

When registering, do not forget to mention "as author" in order to be allowed to submit a paper. Alternatively, it is possible to edit profile and click on "author" in the field "Role".

Published papers are produced directly from author supplied LaTeX files. SMAI-JCM cannot accept files produced by other typesetting or word processing system, hard copies are not acceptable neither.

The convenient LaTeX package is available here. We warn the authors that  publication delay can be significantly reduced by paying attention to the quality of the furnished LaTeX file: as much as possible avoid personal macro, and follow the guidelines in the template.

It is mandatory to follow the following guidelines:

  • Ditch any personal LaTeX macro in the title, abstract and bibliography
  • Figures should be provided as PDF files.
  • Bibilography should be produced through BibTeX.
  • Do not modify the template; in particular do not use any command that would modify the layout of the paper (like e. g. margins).
We warn the authors that the journal does not provide any service to spell check the papers, and to polish the language neither. We urge the authors to be committed in order to reach the best level of professionalism in the presentation of the results.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. Submission of a manuscript to SMAI-JCM is representation by the author that the manuscript has not been published or submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Submission and publication are free of charge for the authors. The authors remain free to make their work, considered as a “preliminary version”, accessible on any research archive (like ArXiV or HAL) or on their personal websites. Only the version published by SMAI-JCM can be considered as the version approved by the editors.

  2. Papers must be submitted as a PDF file, uploaded on the website of the journal. LaTeX files and figures will be requested at the end of the evaluation process.
  3. SMAI-JCM accepts only papers of high quality both in terms of scientific contents and the presentation of the results (that include a professional copy-editing  and correctness of the language). Papers should be written in English.

  4. Important remark on encoding of non English characters

The web-site uses the standard Unicode (UTF-8) encoding which allows a rich set of non English characters. As a consequence, all your metadata (title, authors, etc.) must be inserted directly in Unicode. Try to avoid using TeX, HTML, or XML encodings for accented characters. Most recent systems use Unicode by default. You may read the wikipedia article on Unicode input. In any case, a useful survival trick is to use copy and paste from a list of Unicode characters.

  5. Ditch any personal LaTeX macro in the title, abstract and bibliography.

They will be used as metadata to manage papers tracking and the disrespect of this rule produces errors that delay the evaluation and production processes.
